Welcome! We are MedSci, an undergraduate organization at Yale that educates students about interesting and useful health skills through a scientific lens. Through this program, we hope to introduce elementary students to biological concepts by using health examples they can relate to, such as fevers and allergies. The program is free for participants and is currently available in the New Haven area.
MedSci works in New Haven Public Schools to introduce students to higher level biology concepts early on their academic career to show them the interesting topics in science that lie ahead. To make the material approachable, we introduce material in a grade-appropriate manner (without assuming a large amount of background knowledge) and using examples that the students can relate to and apply now. We hope that sharing our passion for medicine and science will encourage kids to get excited about learning science as well.
About: MedSci
The MedSci executive board designs our own one-hour session plans. Each session plan covers a health-related topic that addresses biological concepts. Our current session plans include "Bloodborne Diseases", "Allergies", "Weird Things Our Body Does", "Fevers and Colds", and "The Brains & Concussions". We incorporate videos, fun facts, and end every session with a fun interactive activity.

MedSci's Student Instructors are Yale undergraduate volunteers. MedSci provides all session plan materials: powerpoints, session plan scripts, activity plans. While many of our instructors are science majors, we welcome students of all majors to apply!
